COPP Member
Tasks/Responsibilities
- Patrol the community, as appropriate, on foot, by bike or by vehicle.
- Identify suspicious or concerning behaviour.
- Notify local law enforcement agency about emergency and non-emergency situations.
- Maintain awareness of community crime deterrence activities and initiatives.
- Assist in increasing awareness and providing crime prevention information to local citizens, businesses and community organizations.
- Keep and maintain proper notes.
- Follow COPP policy and procedures.
- Maintain confidentiality at all times.
- Offer a positive and respectful presence in the community.
Qualifications
- Minimum 18 years of age.
- In good health.
- Live, work or have a vested interest in the patrol area.
- Must complete a criminal record search through the Manitoba Citizens on Patrol Program.
- Good interpersonal skills and communication skills.
- Possess a positive attitude and the ability to work in a team environment.
- Ability to work responsibly with minimal supervision.
- Ability to work in a professional manner.
- Willing to participate in training sessions.
Time Commitment
- Minimum hours per month (to be determined by the group).
Training
- Training session (through Manitoba COPP).
- Member training manual provided.
- Opportunities to attend annual and regional conferences and meetings as available.
